"We've been putting art into words," said Joe (10) at the end of one of my class workshops. And that's what I do - in my own work as well as in schools with teachers and children. I take words - a phrase, a poem, a story, an issue - and explore them thoroughly so that the layers of ideas become layers of fabric connected by drawings and stitch. In my classroom workshops the children's own artworks become the impetus for their own thinking, talking and writing.
What will my next project be? I am currently researching my 2017 projects, working in St Mark's Primary School and hosting visits to the Keeping Gallery.
